The Chinese company Baidu has launched its fully autonomous Apollo Go taxis in Dubai, which can be ordered through the Uber app. Baidu announced this.
“Starting today, August 20, Baidu's Apollo Go autonomous vehicles are officially available for passengers on the Uber platform in Dubai,” the company stated.
In the initial phase, the service will cover the main areas of Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, after which the service area will gradually expand. Passengers can order autonomous rides by selecting UberX and Uber Comfort rates or through a special Autonomous option in the app. As part of the partnership, thousands of Baidu's robotaxis are expected to be gradually integrated into Uber's global network.
During the 2026 World Government Summit, Apollo Go's autonomous vehicle became the official transport of the event, with Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum being its first high-profile passenger.
The project in Dubai, along with the service launched in Abu Dhabi in January, forms an important center for the company's presence in the Middle East.
At the same time, Apollo Go is also developing its European direction, conducting trials in the UK in partnership with Uber and Lyft, as well as launching the AmiGo autonomous driving service in Switzerland in collaboration with PostBus.
As of today, Apollo Go operates in 28 cities worldwide, and the company's fleets have collectively traveled over 350 million kilometers in autonomous mode. Of these, more than 240 million kilometers have been traveled in fully autonomous mode, according to the company's statement.
