The National Assembly is discussing the candidacy for the head of the permanent committee on financial and budgetary issues, proposed by the opposition faction 'Strong Armenia'.
The largest opposition force has nominated Hayk Farmanyan, whose candidacy was presented by the faction's secretary Tigran Abrahamyan.
Out of the 12 permanent committees in parliament, 8 chairpersons are proposed by the ruling 'Civil Contract' faction, 3 by the 'Strong Armenia' faction, and 1 by the 'Armenia' faction.
'Civil Contract' has chosen chairpersons for the committees on defense and security, legal issues, foreign relations, economic issues, education, science, culture, sports and diaspora, health, labor and welfare, and regional and Eurasian integration.
'Strong Armenia' has selected committees on financial and budgetary issues, territorial administration, local self-government, agriculture and environmental protection, and European integration.
The 'Armenia' faction has chosen the committee on human rights protection and public issues.
