Preliminary investigation completed in the case of Ashotyan and two others

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case against Ashotyan and his colleagues has been completed

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has announced the completion of the preliminary investigation into the criminal case against former Minister of Education and Science, Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party Armen Ashotyan and two others.

The Investigative Committee stated that the criminal case concerns the illegal transfer of a public building with an area of 451.1 sq. m., located at 38/1 Pushkin Street in Yerevan, which belonged to the Republic of Armenia.

Ashotyan, in collusion with former Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan and his son, as well as the rector and vice-rectors of the university, are suspected of a corruption scheme involving the transfer of this building and land.

Criminal prosecution has been initiated against 7 individuals for abuse of power and money laundering.
