A theft case has been uncovered in the schools of Artik and Harich. The Anti-Corruption Committee reported that the accountant of Artik school, using his official powers, committed theft in particularly large amounts. The preliminary investigation revealed that he, by not including the amounts of income tax and other mandatory payments from the salaries of some employees in the monthly report, as well as by including false information in the report about transferring funds from the school's accounts to the names of individuals who are not employees for the purpose of paying salaries or returning debts, with the assistance of two individuals, stole around 55 million drams.
Additionally, the mentioned official, also holding the positions of procurement officer and coordinator at Harich secondary school, and later also the accountant, in preliminary agreement with his wife, who is also the accountant of that school, and with the assistance of another citizen, stole 33 million drams that had been withdrawn from the school. As a result of their criminal actions, the state suffered property damage of more than 87 million drams, of which 43 million drams have been recovered.
