Prince William has become a billionaire, and his wealth now exceeds that of his father, King Charles III, reports The Mirror.
The publication refers to a recently released financial report of the Duchy of Cornwall. The duchy passed to William after he became the heir to the British throne in 2022. According to British royal tradition, the Duchy of Cornwall is passed to the eldest son of the reigning monarch. Therefore, when Charles III ascended the throne, he transferred it to William.
Since then, the prince's wealth has reached £1.2 billion.
William has also published details of his tax payments for 2024-2025 for the first time. This is part of an initiative to enhance the transparency of the royal family's activities.
The Duchy of Cornwall is one of the royal family's main assets. The projected annual income for the duchy in 2026 is £21.6 million. The duchy includes more than 20 English counties, and its main income comes from agricultural land, real estate, and other assets.
William plans to sell about 20% of the Duchy of Cornwall's assets over the next 10 years to direct the proceeds towards funding affordable housing and environmental projects in the UK.
