Anti-Corruption Committee: Six People Arrested in Criminal Case Against Robert Kocharian

Kocharian and his son arrested on charges of embezzling state property

The Anti-Corruption Committee reports that six people have been arrested in the criminal case against Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharian, including Kocharian himself and his eldest son, Sedrak Kocharian:

Kocharian is accused of embezzling state property in collusion with associates. He is also accused of acquiring several properties of public and economic significance at prices below market value:

To conceal the true ownership and criminal origin of the properties, they were registered under related companies.

In particular, this concerns an 8.3-hectare plot purchased for 44,657,000 drams, on which the entertainment center 'Play City' was built in 2002.

The Anti-Corruption Committee also reported on an alleged bribe to Kocharian, involving the transfer of 56 properties worth a total of 2,633,934,000 drams.

Actions have been taken against Kocharian and his son to impose a freeze on their assets to prevent any possible transfer or alienation.
