Angola's state-owned oil firm Sonangol and its partner ANPG successfully completed the drilling of the Katambi-2 appraisal well, which showed good reservoir potential for both oil and gas production.
The Katambi-2 well crossed two productive intervals, confirming high-quality reservoirs with metrics better than those from the Katambi-1 well drilled by BP over a decade ago.
Initial tests at Katambi-2 indicated a stabilized production rate of 1,160 barrels per day (bpd) of condensate and 41 million standard cubic feet (MMscfd) of gas.
Sonangol and ANPG plan to develop this new discovery, which could significantly contribute to optimizing Angola's national production.
