US lawmakers are preparing to discuss a significantly expanded sanctions bill against Russia.
According to RFE/RL correspondent Alex Raufoglu in Washington, the authors of the bill plan to present it on Monday, July 13.
The previous version stipulated that Washington's response to Moscow's rejection of US peace efforts would largely depend on the decision of US President Donald Trump.
The new draft stipulates that a number of sanctions will automatically come into effect 30 days after the law is adopted.
“The revised legislation will expand sanctions to cover not only Russian officials and banks but also investments, public debt, shipping, energy exports, uranium imports, financial institutions' services, and other sectors of the Russian economy,” notes the RFE/RL correspondent.
