In the US, nearly half of residents aged 18-34 have a positive view of democratic socialism against the backdrop of dissatisfaction with the current financial situation. This is reported by CNBC, citing a joint study with Generation Lab.
According to the survey, 46% of respondents expressed sympathy for socialist views, which is directly related to the assessment of the US economy. 45% of participants rated the economic situation as 'bad', while 27% rated it as 'very bad'. Young people consider high housing costs (45%) and difficulties in finding stable employment (39%) as the main financial issues.
Due to a lack of financial resources, 47% of respondents have postponed vacations, 32% have given up on buying a car, and 30% have delayed plans to purchase real estate.
The study also revealed young people's concerns about the development of artificial intelligence: 45% expect AI to negatively impact their careers, and the majority do not trust the leaders of major tech corporations.
At the same time, a new trend is emerging in the financial sector: one-third of respondents have used prediction market platforms like Kalshi or Polymarket at least once in the past month.
