According to CNBC, the US Senate has approved a temporary funding bill for the federal government that will ensure the operation of government agencies and prevent a government shutdown ahead of the elections.
Recently, the House of Representatives also passed its version of temporary funding. Now, both chambers must reconcile their differences before the current budget expires, after which the document must be signed by President Donald Trump.
Democratic representatives stated that the Senate version does not allow the administration to reallocate funds from other programs for border security purposes and temporarily suspends the rule that gave politically appointed officials control over hundreds of billions of dollars in grants.
The bill also includes some adjustments to the funding of housing and food assistance programs.
