US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Washington has decided to impose a 25% tariff on most goods imported from Brazil.
Rubio stated that President Trump has instructed this move as Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has "not conducted negotiations with the US in good faith." He added that Lula's economic policies harm both Americans and Brazilians.
