The Museum of American Finance Opens Its Doors in Boston

The museum showcases U.S. financial history

The Museum of American Finance has opened its new headquarters in Boston to the public. This marks the first permanent location for the Smithsonian affiliate, coinciding with the country's 250th anniversary.

Located on Commonwealth Pier, the 5,400-square-foot museum features seven exhibits that help visitors learn about U.S. financial history.

One exhibit, developed in partnership with the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology, includes an interactive experience with artificial intelligence featuring Alexander Hamilton.

"We're bringing him back to life," said Erich Umar, head of technology strategy & planning.

Visitors can converse with the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury in over 50 languages.

“America in Circulation”

The first exhibit visitors encounter is “America in Circulation,” showcasing various currencies from the nation.

Displayed are pine tree shillings from 1652 and the earliest paper currency from the 18th century.

Financial Education

Admission to the museum is free, ensuring that anyone interested can learn about finance.

Currently, the national debt of the U.S. exceeds $39 trillion.

“Financial literacy is crucial for people to manage their finances,” said Bob Pisani, former CNBC senior markets correspondent.
