U.S. Stock Market Continues to Rise

S&P 500's rise continues, but the market remains calm

U.S. stock futures were little changed Sunday night, after the S&P 500 climbed for a third straight week though it ended Friday lower.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 11 points, or 0.02%. S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 0.1% and 0.2%, respectively.

In Asia, markets were trading mixed Monday. Japan's Nikkei 225 was flat, while Australia's benchmark S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.23%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index advanced 1.4%, and mainland China's CSI 300 edged 0.13% higher.

Wall Street is coming off three consecutive weeks of gains for the S&P 500, which again notched fresh all-time highs last week following a blockbuster earnings season that's buoyed investor sentiment.

“Investors appear increasingly comfortable with the current backdrop, leaving the bears with fewer and fewer narratives to chew on,” Mark Hackett, chief market strategist at Nationwide, wrote on Friday.

Investors are in for a week with fewer catalysts on the calendar, though the Federal Reserve posts its latest meeting minutes Wednesday.

A slew of retail earnings are also on tap, with Walmart results due out Thursday.
