American company Amazon.com Inc. has signed long-term electricity purchase agreements with four wind farms in Sweden to meet the electricity demand of its data centers operating in the country.
As a result of these agreements, Amazon's available capacity will increase by nearly 200 MW, and after the commissioning of all wind farms, the company will have nearly 1 GW of electricity supply capacity in Sweden, Amazon reported. The Boarp, Dallebo, and Fagelas wind farms, managed by Eolus and OX2, have already been commissioned, while Fagerasen is still under construction.
According to Amazon, 1 GW of capacity is sufficient to supply electricity to more than 350,000 households over a year.
In 2025, the American company was the largest corporate buyer of “clean” energy in Sweden. Globally, Amazon has invested in over 700 similar projects with a total capacity of more than 40 GW, including over 10 GW in 260 projects in Europe.
