In the Swiss Alps, construction has begun on bunkers designed to store the valuables of the world's richest individuals in case of disasters. According to BILD, the project is backed by Brünig Mega Safe AG. The underground storage facilities will be located in the Brünig mountain range at a depth of over 100 meters.
Construction started in January 2026. Company representatives state that the rough construction work in the high-security zone has already been completed, and the construction of the portal for storage areas will begin in January. The first storage units may be ready by 2028.
The cost of renting one storage unit for 99 years is set at 1 million euros. Initial contracts have already been signed. The level of security is promised to be comparable to that of the Swiss National Bank's vaults. The bunkers can store almost anything, including vehicles, except for drugs and explosives.
Access to the storage units will be controlled through several levels of oversight. Individuals who acquire storage rights for decades will be registered in the land registry, which legally brings such storage units closer to real estate status.
In Switzerland, many mountain ranges are divided into sections owned by communities, corporations, and private individuals. Previously, former military tunnels have been used as cheese aging storage, mushroom farms, shooting ranges, data centers, and warehouses.
