Aliyev's Statement is Political, Armenia Must Understand that Energy Supply is Also a Soft Power Leverage

Economist Aghasi Tavadyan Discusses Armenia's Energy Security

The issues of Armenia's energy security remain relevant, especially following the recent statements by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who noted that "Azerbaijan can be the main supplier of fuel for Armenia." Economist Aghasi Tavadyan emphasized in an interview with "Aravot" that this statement has a political nature.

"Armenia must understand that the supply of energy resources is also a leverage of soft power," he stated.

Tavadyan pointed out that currently, Armenia's market is dependent on global market prices, and the global crisis in the oil products market may prolong due to the situation around the Hormuz Strait.

"At this moment, the Hormuz Strait is closed, and the situation may worsen, as about 20 percent of global oil product volumes pass through the Hormuz Strait," the economist added.
