Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Armenia's main source of energy is the nuclear power plant, but it is outdated and poses a danger to the region. According to Aliyev, the operational lifespan of the nuclear plant cannot be extended indefinitely, and sooner or later it must be closed.
He noted that the Armenian government should consider additional sources of electricity supply, as the closure of the nuclear plant could lead to a serious energy crisis.
Aliyev also informed that Azerbaijani specialists have already conducted research in Armenia and identified locations where electricity transmission line poles could be installed.
He stated that Baku expects the Armenian side not to delay the resolution of this issue, as an additional source of electricity may primarily be needed by Armenia itself.
