A unique greenhouse complex for growing tomatoes, equipped with artificial intelligence, robotics, and modern solutions, has officially opened in the village of Nor Edesia, located in the Aragatsotn region. The greenhouse features a ‘smart’ system that scans the entire facility, collecting and analyzing data on the quantity of tomatoes, their ripeness, the condition of the plants, and even the presence of pests.
In this state-of-the-art greenhouse, tomatoes are grown in a clean environment made from coconut fibers; all necessary nutrients are supplied to the plants through a drip irrigation system.
Currently, the greenhouse produces about 18-20 tons of harvest daily, which is exported to various countries worldwide, including Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania, and the United Arab Emirates. In the near future, production volume is expected to increase to around 40 tons per day.
“During the financing of this project, there were many questions, but trust played a significant role here, and we confidently went down the path of financing the project. The project, which is now ready, was initially just an idea written on paper. Now we have a reason to be proud that we financed such good work. In these difficult times, we must not lose optimism, move forward, and view every crisis as a new opportunity,” said Akba Bank's CEO Hakob Andreasian.
“The operations in this greenhouse are managed by artificial intelligence, and we also have a monitoring robot that scans the entire greenhouse and the plants. At present, we can know how many kilograms of tomatoes we have, their level of ripeness, whether there are any sick plants, and the robot even helps us understand what insects are present here. Akba Bank and Akba Leasing have played a significant role in the overall development of our business. Our greenhouse has been fully financed through Akba Bank, and in collaboration with Akba Leasing, we have equipped the greenhouse complex with various technologies,” said Haik Hunanian, founder and director of Agro Prom.
Construction of a new greenhouse complex on an additional 10 hectares has already begun next to the existing greenhouse, and a production area is also planned to be built for necessary packaging production.
The bank is regulated by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia.
