Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been quite clear and open about the prospects of importing electricity from Azerbaijan. According to energy security expert Dr. Vage Davtyan, in the context of the dynamic development of artificial intelligence infrastructure in Armenia, there may be a shortage of electricity that can only be covered by imports.
"Not through increasing domestic generating capacities, nor through the implementation of the Armenian atomic project, and not even through the development of solar energy and energy storage systems. Import is the way to overcome the expected problems of the Armenian energy system," he noted.
The expert also emphasized that "Armenia is a net importer of goods." Electricity is one of the few areas that can give the republic the opportunity to develop exports of high value-added products.
