Azerbaijan has suspended flights by Iranian airlines to its territory starting September 22. The decision was announced by the press service of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL).
According to AZAL, the move is tied to a new package of US sanctions against Iran, particularly restrictions targeting the aviation sector. The company said that on this basis flights operated by Iranian carriers to Azerbaijan are being halted from September 22, 2026.
The State Civil Aviation Agency under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told RIA Novosti that because of the restrictions, passengers are advised to contact the relevant airlines or the sales offices where they purchased their tickets.
