Georgia's economy grew by 6.4%

Statistical data shows trends of economic growth

According to preliminary estimates from the National Statistics Service of Georgia ("Geostat"), in May 2026, the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6.4% compared to the same period last year, while the average figure for the first five months of 2026 was set at 7.8%:

Data from Geostat indicates that the turnover of the private sector in Georgia, i.e., companies that pay VAT, amounted to 15.7 billion lari, which is an increase of 8.7% year-on-year. Growth has been recorded in almost all sectors of the economy, although a decline is observed in the construction sector:

"In May 2026, compared to the same period last year, significant contributions to growth were made by the following sectors: financial and insurance activities, information and communication, manufacturing, transport, and storage. A downward trend has been recorded in the construction sector," the information states.
