Narek Karapetyan, the first candidate on the list of the "Strong Armenia" bloc, stated that the government led by Nikol Pashinyan did not receive the support of the majority of citizens of the republic. He noted that the Constitution of Armenia, written in 2015, allows even a force that does not receive more than 50% of the votes to become the head of state:
"The majority of our society did not vote in favor of Pashinyan, which means we conclude that the majority of citizens do not want to see this government at the head of the state," Karapetyan noted.
He emphasized the importance of correctly consolidating opposition forces and pointed out that the dispersion of votes, mass falsifications during the elections, dismissals of citizens from work, and arrests deprived the country of the opportunity to hold transparent and fair elections:
"We saw how more than 50 thousand citizens' votes were stolen," the politician stressed.
According to the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia, 49.75% of voters supported Nikol Pashinyan's "Civil Contract" party in the parliamentary elections held on June 7, which gives this party 64 mandates, while "Strong Armenia" received 23.27% (29 mandates), and the "Armenia" bloc received 9.92% (12 mandates).
