Samvel Karapetyan's House Arrest Extended

The Anti-Corruption Court decided to extend the house arrest period.

The Anti-Corruption Court today, July 9, 2026, decided to extend the house arrest of businessman Samvel Karapetyan for two months during a court session. The prosecutor had requested a three-month extension.

During the house arrest, Samvel Karapetyan is prohibited from contacting individuals whose information is mentioned in previous court decisions within the framework of the criminal case. Communication with others is not restricted.

It is noteworthy that on December 30, 2025, the measure of restraint for businessman Samvel Karapetyan was changed by court decision. House arrest and bail were applied. During this period, the duration of the measure of restraint has been periodically extended.

Samvel Karapetyan has been charged under Articles 290 (Failure to pay taxes, fees, or other payments), 296 (Money laundering), and 422 (Public calls for the seizure of power, violation of territorial integrity, refusal of sovereignty, or violent overthrow of the constitutional order) of the Criminal Code.

On October 13, 2025, the charges were changed, and a new charge was brought against S. Karapetyan for money laundering in especially large amounts using his official or service powers or the influence associated with them.

Samvel Karapetyan's freedom has been restricted since June 18, 2025, when he was arrested by court decision.
