In April 2026, Pakistan operationalized two new corridors, one through Iran's Gabd-Rimdan crossing and one through China's Sost Dry Port, after indefinitely closing the Torkham and Chaman crossings in October 2025.
More than 14,000 metric tons of cargo have already moved across both routes, including the first reciprocal shipments to Kyrgyzstan along the 3,300-kilometer Bishkek-Karachi corridor.
Pakistan's decision to bypass Afghanistan follows the indefinite closure of the Torkham and Chaman border crossings due to security risks.
These new corridors, activated in April, will help Central Asian countries secure safe trade routes, circumventing traditional Afghan pathways.
