The Armenian National Congress (ANC) states that establishing additional conditions for electoral rights by law is beyond the permissible regulatory framework of the Constitution. The ANC emphasizes that the results of the June 7, 2026, National Assembly elections were falsified with systemic and massive violations, and the authorities continue to dismantle the state and constitutional order of the Republic of Armenia.
The ANC highlights that the new amendments stipulate that only those citizens who have resided in Armenia for a certain period have the right to participate in national elections and referendums, which contradicts Article 48 of the Constitution that guarantees electoral rights to all citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
The ANC calls on the Constitutional Court to recognize these amendments as unconstitutional and invalid, as they could lead to a continuous constitutional crisis.
