YEREVAN, July 17. /ARKA/. Recommendations from the MONEYVAL report on Armenia do not pose a direct threat to the country's economy; however, their implementation should be proportionate and not create unjustified barriers for honest businesses and investors, says economist Grant Mikaelyan:
The MONEYVAL report recorded the country's progress in developing its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing system, but also pointed out issues that require further work.
Mikaelyan believes that the shortcomings noted in the report are not serious obstacles for Armenia's economy, and that international assessments are just one of the factors influencing the investment climate.
He emphasized that increased control could lead to a decrease in investment flows.
The economist also noted that Armenia does not face reputational risks on the international stage.
