Meta jumps into AI coding market in effort to chase Anthropic and OpenAI

Meta unveiled a major update to its Muse Spark artificial intelligence model and offered pricing details.

Three months after unveiling its first artificial intelligence model, Meta is rolling out the Muse Spark 1.1 update to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic.

AI chief Alexandr Wang characterized the pricing as "very aggressive and attractive" compared to similar offerings. Meta now requires developers to pay for access to its new AI model.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is under pressure from Wall Street to show a return on the company's investment in AI infrastructure and development.

Meta plans to start a cloud infrastructure business but has yet to keep up with OpenAI and Anthropic.

Meta also released the Muse Image model for creating images.
