Key Directions of Armenia-EU Cooperation Discussed

Meeting of the Armenia-EU Cooperation Subcommittee

The 15th meeting of the Armenia-European Union Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom, and Security was held co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Justice Anna Karapetyan and attended by senior representatives of relevant state bodies.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key directions of Armenia-EU cooperation, assessing the progress made and outlining priorities for future collaboration. Specifically, the progress of judicial and legal reforms, as well as constitutional reforms, the work being done to develop judicial cooperation, and the progress achieved in the fight against corruption and the fulfillment of international commitments were presented.

Separate discussions focused on legislative and institutional reforms in the field of personal data protection in the context of aligning with European Union standards, the establishment of an independent oversight body, and the improvement of the legal framework for data protection.

The implementation of the action plan for dialogue on visa liberalization with the European Union (VLAP) was also addressed, with reforms being carried out in the areas of document security, migration and border management, protection of fundamental rights, and alignment with European Union standards, as well as other matters of mutual interest in the fields of justice, freedom, and security.

The Ministry of Justice reminds that the subcommittee has been operating since 2009, and meetings are regularly held in Yerevan and Brussels.
