Daniel Ioannisyan, coordinator of the NGO "Civil Society Union," made a post on his Facebook page addressing the criminal prosecution of Gagik Tsarukyan, his arrest, and the related speculations:
"The prosecution may be political if it is against a political figure. Gagik Tsarukyan is a businessman who has always used politics to serve his business, and who (in the last six months) was used to interfere in our elections. Gagik Tsarukyan is not a political figure," Ioannisyan wrote:
Recall that on the morning of July 6, searches were conducted at the residence of Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, as well as in almost all companies included in the Multi Group concern and in the apartments of the directors of those organizations. Later, after the completion of the search at the residence, Tsarukyan was arrested and taken to the Investigative Committee. The Committee officially reported what Gagik Tsarukyan is accused of. Another person was arrested simultaneously with him.
