The process of nationalization of HEC is postponed

Romanos Petrosyan presented an investment project

Romanos Petrosyan, the interim manager of HEC, stated in an interview with Factor that an investment program of approximately 46.7 billion drams has been submitted for approval to the Public Services Regulatory Commission for 2026. According to him, the program aims to reconstruct about 500 km of overhead and nearly 100 km of cable lines, build 27 new distribution substations, several high-voltage substations, and carry out a large-scale modernization of the network with the re-equipment of electrical equipment.

He also noted that the start of the nationalization process for HEC is being postponed; instead of the second half of July, the issue may be included in the government's agenda later. Public hearings must be organized before recognizing the public interest. “I assume it will be discussed in the first half of August, perhaps it will be one of the agenda items for the new government regarding the recognition of public interest,” said Romanos Petrosyan.

Today marks the end of the discussion of the draft decision to recognize HEC as a public interest in the e-draft system, which began on June 22.
