Starting January 1, 2027, Armenia will restrict the circulation of single-use plastic products:
- The sale and presence of polyethylene bags and sacks will be prohibited in trade objects, public catering organizations, street trade points, and fairs:
- The ban will also extend to polyethylene bags and sacks thicker than 50 microns:
- Exceptions will be made for bags intended for weighing and garbage bags made from recycled materials:
- The sale and presence of single-use tableware and containers made of plastic or foam plastic will also be prohibited:
As a safe and environmentally friendly alternative, reusable bags made of paper and fabric, as well as tableware made of paper and wood materials, are proposed:
In case of violation of the established requirements, administrative penalties will be applied to entrepreneurs:
