In Armenia, the number of college entrants increases by 10% annually. This was stated by Ara Svachyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, during a press conference on July 10, noting that the positive trend continues year after year.
She reported that for the next academic year, the vocational education program provides for 3,312 places in 38 specialties, of which 21 are related to priority areas and include scholarship payments. Another 800 places are provided under the Ministry of Internal Affairs program. For secondary vocational education programs, 6,064 places will be available in 107 specialties. At the same time, 15 specialties are included in the scholarship program as priorities for the country's economy.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that in the first year, regardless of whether the student is studying on a paid basis or under a state order, they receive a scholarship. After the first year's results are summarized, scholarships will be retained for students with high academic performance. Others, as she noted, will be able to restore their scholarships by improving their academic indicators. According to Svachyan, this program has improved the situation with filling places in these areas. "Youth has begun to show interest in these specialties, which had remained vacant for years. Now we already have students in all these specialties," she noted.
