In Armenia, hotels will be classified according to the standards of Hotelstars Union. The Association of Hotels of Armenia has won the tender to determine the organization authorized to assign categories (stars) to hospitality establishments, and today a corresponding contract was signed with the Tourism Committee. The classification process is based on an agreement concluded between the Association of Hotels of Armenia and the Hotelstars Union organization, which is a European hotel classification system created to unify approaches to assigning stars to hotels and ensuring transparent quality standards in the hospitality sector.
As a result, over the next 10 years, international technical requirements and standards used by Hotelstars Union will be applied in the classification of hotels in Armenia. This will contribute to improving the quality of the hospitality industry in Armenia, implementing international standards, and strengthening the country's competitiveness as a tourist destination.
It is worth noting that at the end of 2025, the government approved the procedure for classifying hotels, the criteria for assigning categories (stars), and the form of the qualification certificate.
