Armenia and UAE mutually recognize driver's licenses

The memorandum of understanding has come into force

Since June 13, citizens of the Republic of Armenia who are in the United Arab Emirates for non-residential purposes, as well as UAE citizens in Armenia for non-residential purposes, can freely drive with their national driver's licenses. In cases where they are residing in the other country, those applying for the exchange of their driver's licenses are exempt from the requirement to pass the theoretical and practical examinations associated with that process. The driver's licenses of both countries are mutually recognized without additional procedures, without the need to reaffirm their validity.

The memorandum was signed on September 30, 2025, by Armenian Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, General-Lieutenant Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this initiative further confirms the dynamically developing cooperation between Armenia and the UAE, which also provides opportunities to facilitate the daily lives of citizens.
