Armenia is interested in participating in the EAEU and wants to develop relations with Russia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced at a meeting with Mikhail Mishustin:
Following the parliamentary elections on June 7, this is Pashinyan's first working visit to Russia, where he participated in the international exhibition 'Innoprom' in Yekaterinburg, during which the heads of the governments of the two countries met:
“As before the elections, so after the elections, we intend to develop our relations with the Russian Federation,” Pashinyan stated:
Pashinyan's visit to Yekaterinburg followed recent decisions by Russia to block Armenian goods, which deprived many Armenian companies of the opportunity to export their products to Russia and through that country to other states:
Many Armenian companies engaged in the production of agricultural products, fish, beverages, and flowers have suffered significant losses recently:
Provisions of the EAEU Agreement Must Be Implemented. Pashinyan
Pashinyan emphasized during the public portion of the meeting with the Russian Prime Minister that the provisions of the EAEU agreement must be implemented:
“We are interested in ensuring that the mechanisms provided for in the EAEU agreement operate as planned. I believe this is in the interests of the further development of the EAEU,” the Armenian Prime Minister noted:
Mishustin, in his public remarks, also did not address the restrictions on Armenian goods, but expressed hope that the Armenian government would continue to create favorable conditions for Russian investors:
“This is your first foreign visit after the parliamentary elections on June 7. We hope that as a result of the elections, the newly formed government of Armenia will ensure progress in Armenian-Russian relations in the spirit of friendship, brotherhood, mutual respect, and respect for each other's interests.”
