Gas tariffs for residents of Armenia will not change — RERC

Yerevan, July 1. /ARKA/. The tariffs for natural gas for residential subscribers in Armenia will remain unchanged, the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia reports.

This decision was made on Wednesday at a meeting of the RERC and will come into effect on August 1, 2026. The commission noted that during the tariff review process initiated by the RERC, tariffs for transportation, distribution of natural gas, and the operator of the gas supply system, Gazprom Armenia, were revised, taking into account all positive and negative factors affecting the tariffs.

At the same time, the agency emphasized that these changes will not affect the payments of the population.

Earlier, some Armenian media reported that the energy holding Gazprom allegedly contacted the Armenian government regarding changes in the price of Russian gas supplied to the republic.

About the price of gas

On April 1 in Moscow, President Vladimir Putin told Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Russian gas is cheaper for Armenia than it is in Europe. According to him, today gas prices in Europe "exceed 600 dollars per thousand cubic meters, while Russia sells gas to Armenia for 177.5 dollars per thousand cubic meters".

On April 9, Pashinyan, commenting on the possibility of an increase in the price of Russian natural gas for Armenia, stated that there are long-term contracts between Armenia and Russia, and they will not be violated.

Gazprom Armenia is a 100% subsidiary of the Russian holding Gazprom, the monopolistic supplier of natural gas from Russia to Armenia for domestic consumption. Gas supplies are transported through the territory of Georgia, and the price of Russian gas at the border is $165 per 1,000 cubic meters.
