China has accepted its first tanker of American gas in a year. The gas carrier from Louisiana has docked at the Chinese port of Yanpu. Supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the U.S. had been nearly halted since February 2025 due to a new phase of the trade war and the imposition of Chinese tariffs.
Now the situation is changing. Due to disruptions in gas exports from the Persian Gulf, Asian countries are forced to seek alternatives. According to media reports, it is still unclear whether China will keep this gas for its own needs or resell it to other countries.
