A criminal case has been opened against the head of the Brusov University department for receiving bribes. This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
As a result of operational-search activities carried out by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, it was established that the official of the State University of Brusov, using his official powers, received a bribe for protection.
In particular, the preliminary investigation revealed that the said official organized the process of granting two teachers of the same faculty an unscheduled leave during the academic process, redistributing the teaching hours among other teachers, and in return received various sums of money from them as a bribe in October 2025.
Additionally, the head of the department accepted a bribe from a graduate student for the unobstructed defense of his dissertation, receiving a gold ornament from him in December 2025.
The head of the department has been charged under Article 435, Part 2, Clause 3 (3 episodes) of the Criminal Code, and three teachers who gave him a bribe have been charged under Article 436, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code.
The head of the department has been prohibited from attending lectures and has been suspended from his position. The preliminary investigation into the criminal case has been completed, and the materials of the case, along with the indictment, have been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a request for approval and forwarding to the court.
