In June, gasoline imports from Belarus to Russia reached a historical maximum, reports Vedomosti, citing data from the Center for Price Indices (CPI).
According to the publication, from June 1 to 25, 141,000 tons of gasoline were supplied to Russia — almost two and a half times more than in the entire month of May. For comparison, in June of last year, imports amounted to only 1,000 tons.
CPI data indicates that Belarus redirected some of the fuel previously supplied to Central Asian countries to Russia. At the same time, the transit of Belarusian gasoline through Russian territory decreased from 196,000 tons at the beginning of the year to 24,000 tons in June.
According to Reuters, this summer, daily gasoline consumption in Russia exceeded 110,000 tons. The import of Belarusian fuel is increasing against the backdrop of drone strikes on Russian oil refineries.
It was previously reported that Russia has also started buying gasoline from India and is discussing possible supplies from Kazakhstan.
