During the NATO summit taking place in Ankara, Turkey, representatives of member countries have signed contracts worth at least $50 billion. This was reported by Euractiv, citing a representative of the Alliance.
The contracts primarily focus on air defense systems, drone acquisitions, and joint projects in the production of military equipment and armaments.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced the joining of 20 member countries to the Drone Edge initiative. Under this program, it is planned to invest $40 billion in drone production and the development of countermeasures over the next five years.
The NATO summit in Ankara is taking place on July 7-8. Leaders of 32 member states of the North Atlantic Alliance are participating. The main topics of the meeting are defense cooperation among NATO member countries and investments in the Alliance's technological development.
