Yerevan: Mediamax: Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced today that "the American side regularly informs us about the progress of the TRIPP project":
According to Trend, speaking at a press conference after a meeting with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ignacio Cassis, Jeyhun Bayramov stated.
"It is expected that in 2026, the main construction works on the 42-kilometer section of the Zangezur corridor passing through Armenia within the framework of the TRIPP project will begin. The project is being implemented by the USA and Armenia, however, since its entry and exit points are located in Azerbaijan, the American side regularly informs us about the progress of the project," Bayramov said.
He emphasized that Azerbaijan is rapidly fulfilling its obligations:
"The implementation of new railway and road projects in Azerbaijan is at a high level. We expect that by the beginning of 2027, both projects will reach the Armenian border," he noted.
Bayramov added that investments have been made to restore the operation of a 180-kilometer railway line that was used during the Soviet era towards the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and work has already begun. The project for the railway from Kars to Igdir to Dilucu is also in the implementation phase.
According to Bayramov, the implementation of these projects will not only ensure connectivity between the main territory of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic but will also create a new route for the Middle Corridor:
"This can significantly contribute to the expansion of trade, economic growth, and strengthening regional cooperation between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and other neighboring countries," the minister said.
