Electricity production in Armenia increased by 9.7%

According to data published by the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, from January to May 2026, Armenia produced 4,380.9 million kWh of electricity. This represents a 9.7% increase compared to the comparable figure for 2025.

Specifically, electricity production from thermal power plants increased by 58.1% to 1,757.0 million kWh. Production from hydroelectric power plants decreased by 5.1% to 1,025.5 million kWh. Production from nuclear power plants fell by 23.8% to 939.5 million kWh. Wind power generation increased by 46.5% to 0.5 million kWh, while solar power generation rose by 16.1% to 658.4 million kWh.

[1] The volumes of electricity production also include the volumes produced by autonomous producers in terms of electricity flows (the total volume of electricity supplied by autonomous producers to the Electric Networks of Armenia is 218.6 million kWh, as well as the volumes produced and consumed on-site by autonomous producers (not recorded by commercial meters), estimated at 168.3 million kWh, according to the data from the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia). Furthermore, according to the current methodology, the value data of electricity produced by autonomous producers is not included in the value volumes of electricity production. As a result, the structure of electricity production by power plants differs in value and physical expression.
